After studies in Mechanical Engineering, David pursued his interest in design and with self-taught woodworking skills made bespoke furniture, film sets and woodworking tools, establishing a furniture manufacturing business, The Bedwright in 1990.
From 2002, as David Durance Design, David has been designing for some of Australia’s leading domestic furniture manufacturers, with a number of industry awards to his name. In 2009 he completed a Master’s degree in design, where focussed on sustainable design principles, and cardboard furniture.
In 2011 he took on a property development role in collaboration with Six Degrees, a leading Melbourne architectural firm. This culminated in Clyde Mews – eight environmentally sustainable and community focussed dwellings located in Melbourne’s inner north.
